Excellent results for our DOCGs, which in addition to the great success of Christmas sales, are also experiencing a positive boom overseas in Singapore!
For many years, for many people, "Christmas" has rhymed with "Spumante": at the end of the year millions of bottles will be uncorked around the world, to be precise, about a third of the 750 million that Italy exports each year. Obviously the two big players are Prosecco DOC and DOCG, accounting for the latter just over half of the total sold (OVSE 2022 data), a sign of the increasingly strong reputation of this product on the world market.
"In the hills of Conegliano-Valdobbiadene our winery produces two Prosecco sparkling wines, Spumante Prosecco Superiore DOCG Conegliano-Valdobbiadene Extra Dry "Stefany" and Spumante Prosecco Superiore DOCG Conegliano-Valdobbiadene Brut. The grapes from which these two wines are made are grown in a basin located in the municipality of San Pietro in Feletto, in the heart of the Prosecco Hills, in a UNESCO-protected area where the vineyards recreate a landscape with an archaic flavor that nonetheless manages to enchant tourists from all over the world."
Our philosophy seeks to preserve this land as best we can by practicing organic farming, now since 1991, that is, avoiding the use of synthetic chemicals and using copper and sulfur mineral compounds in limited quantities. This is our will, to respect not only the health of the people who inhabit this wonderful land, but also all the widespread biodiversity that embellishes it.
Our "Stefany" DOCG is positively affected by both the local and global vocation of the territory in which it was born, distinguished by a fruity flavor of apple and pear, with an aftertaste of citrus and white flowers, giving a creamy mouthfeel, but lively because of its acidity. We unreservedly recommend it to end the meal, accompanied by some pastry cookies or to enhance the panettone and pandoro cakes of this period.
Our Brut DOCG on the other hand has a fresh, delicate flavor with an apple aftertaste that makes it the true 'king of the aperitif', being used in many drinks. A wine of high structure, also ideal for accompanying vegetable appetizers and fish and crudités dishes.
These two wines of ours have recently been enjoying good success in Singapore as well: the inhabitants of the multicultural and cosmopolitan city-state located in the Straits of Malacca seem to greatly appreciate the products of Colline di Conegliano-Valdobbiadene. They are on the lists of renowned restaurants and clubs in the capital, and this makes us very proud.
We hope this is just a first step toward increasing awareness of our Prosecco DOCG in this fascinating country, already known to appreciate Italian history and culture.
Cheers to these days-with Pizzolato DOCG bubbles!
