40 years of organic
"For a runner, the most exhilarating moment is not when you cross the finish line as a winner. Instead, it is when you make the decision, when you decide to sprint."
We feel very much represented by this quote, which fully expresses the feeling that animates us for the particular event we are celebrating. An anniversary, that of 40 years of experience in the organic world, which never before has a special significance.
1981-2021. It is precisely that turning point, that snapshot of Settimo, which took place back in 1981 together with his father, that has led us to reach this goal today: celebrating 40 years of commitment and work in the organic sector. These have definitely been years filled with history: whole chapters that every day have spoken and still speak today about people, about the company, about choices, about wines and grape varieties, about the environment and research. We blow out these 40 candles TOGETHER WITH YOU ready to shoot forward once again for more new and exciting goals!
The emotions of Settimo Pizzolato
How do you remember that breakthrough you made with your father to reach this important milestone today?
"I still remember precisely the days when my father and I turned this company around. It was December 1980, and my father told me, 'I'm tired.' A man who had started working very early, at the age of about 13, at the threshold of 60 was feeling a load on his back that was really beginning to take its toll at that time. "I would like to ask you to help me in business management. I am losing a little energy." These phrases struck me very much and at the same time I was proud. The next day I immediately agreed: "Only on one condition, Dad: that of eliminating entirely all the chemicals we are using. I will make you a study of the future prospects that a chemical-free, organic conduction can bring us." To this day I am happy that this choice turned out to be the right one."
Looking back, what is one of the lasting memories of these 40 years of experience in the organic sector?
"Definitely my father's excited eyes at the sight of the first truck arriving at the winery to load the very first four pallets of certified organic wine: two would go to Mr. Sepp Angermeier and the other two to Mr. Gerald Bartke, friends-clients with whom I still work today. That was 1994."
Do you have a dream in the drawer?
"After 40 years I can firmly say that I am living one of my biggest dreams right now. My winery is the result of a team effort that I always carry in my mind. However, I still have many dreams in my drawer: one of them is to be able to host as many people as possible on my estate. The future realization of the Pizzolato wine shop, together with the current winery, I wish they could become "the places of wine." I dream of being able to give those who come to visit us a truly sustainable experience, where it is possible to SUFFER getting to know and taste our wines. Getting into the world of wine takes time, dedication and curiosity."
