Our PIWI WINES stars in social campaign dedicated to sustainability: the Pizzolato team embraces the 5 P's of Agenda 2030

Winery Sustainability Month, May 15 to June 16, is also being celebrated and told on social media: PIWI wines are acting as spokespeople for important messages to raise awareness of green commitment to our planet... stay tuned!

The issue of sustainability is a founding value for our company and in the same way is being able to communicate it in the right way. The goal is to raise awareness among our audience toward conscious, ethical and environmentally friendly choices especially in their daily lives with simple actions that are actually huge, such as choosing to have wine on the table from a more sustainable supply chain. We chose PIWI wines to communicate sustainability because they symbolize a real revolution in viticulture. In fact, requiring far fewer treatments, they now represent an emblem of real respect for the land, the soil and the environment.

In 2021 we launched a social campaign dedicated to sustainability in which shots of PIWI wines were accompanied by "green messages" painted on the skin (read more about this campaign) of some Pizzolato staff members with the aim of generating awareness of how important it is to have a sustainable approach in daily life.

During 2023 we invested even more in internal communication by training employees on sustainability issues. During these meetings, we explained to them the principles of Agenda 2030 (the Sustainable Development Plan signed by UN member countries, find out more), the environmental certifications we were preparing towards, territorial and social projects, and the theme of the 5 P's of sustainability, keeping PIWI wines at the center of our communication.
The main focus of training in the company is Agenda 2030 which is based on five key concepts, represented by five "P 's."

in turn divided into 17 Sustainable Development Goals to be achieved by 2030. Common goals for everyone, no one is excluded, which is why we too have chosen to make a difference! We wanted to tell the 5 P's of sustainability through a communication project that involved the whole Pizzolato team by asking each of us which of the 5 P's we felt closest to. The team building activity was then to build together a big crossword puzzle with the purpose of crossing the key words of sustainability with the PIWI wine of reference.

The social campaign of the 5 p

To complete the social campaign, we then associated our 5 wines PIWI, HOOPA, HUAKAI, KONTIKI, HURRA' and NOVELLO, with the 5 P's of sustainability by going after the intrinsic meaning of the fancy names chosen for each with the definition of the 5 P's of the 2030 Agenda.

WHITE PIWI IGT VENETO "HUAKAI" - PEACE 

"HUAKAI" in Asian etymologies really means "journey": our journey to discover PIWI wines, but also our journey to a peaceful world without inequality and aiming for inclusiveness. We have, therefore, associated HUAKAI with the P for PEACE because, for the goals of Agenda 2030, politics and institutions will have to ensure stable and lasting peace and will have to put the dignity of their peoples first by promoting respect for others. It takes courage and resourcefulness to ensure a stable and lasting peace situation, somewhat like taking a journey to discover the unknown. The interviewed group, sensitive to the theme of peace, defines sustainability as ensuring gender equality, the dignity of every individual, and the promotion of inclusive actions

- RED PIWI IGT VENETO "KONTIKI" - PROSPERITY

On the journey of discovery of PIWI wines, our red wine "KONTIKI" without added sulfites represents the means by which we embarked on this journey, toward unspoiled nature. To this wine we have linked the P of PROSPERITY because there is no happy life that does not pass through the rediscovery of nature. We are nature, but over time we have moved away from it with the mistaken assumption that our technology and constructions would protect us from everything. "KONTIKI" represents the medium through which we can reconnect with Nature, a medium of a time that moves away from technology but brings us closer to the Planet. The team that feels particularly connected to this goal sees sustainability as respecting biodiversity, reconnecting with nature, promoting circular economy processes, and investing in research and development.

- PIWI SPARKLING ROSÉ IGT VENETO "HURRAH" - PARTNERSHIP

Our PIWI wine "HURRA'" is the shout of freedom, it is joy and collectivity. It is exultation at the discovery of planet Piwi but also an ode to COLLABORATION between people, between a team, a team!
This is why we decided to associate our PIWI HURRA' wine with the P of PARTNERSHIP, which according to Agenda 2030, aims to build strong social and territorial collaborations and cooperations. HURRA' thus becomes the ode to sustaining collaboration between teams and stakeholders. In this vision, sustainability is defined as implementing business-to-business cooperation and promoting sustainable development.

- PIWI SPARKLING WHITE IGT VENETO "HOOPA" -> PEOPLE 

The name "HOOPA" takes inspiration from the Hupa language spoken in Northwest California by a small tribe. "HOOPA" for us represents the "destination" of this journey in the world of PIWI wines but also the destination in an upside-down world where social integration and elimination of stereotypes is promoted. That is why we decided to associate it with the P of PEOPLE, which aims precisely to achieve these goals. Employees who feel closest to the P of PEOPLE define sustainability as promoting equality in all its forms, fostering social integration, ensuring welfare services, eliminating stereotypes, and promoting employment.

- PIWI WINE NOVELLO IGT VENETO -> PLANET

Our NOVELLO PIWI Without Added Sulfites symbolizes the marriage of tradition and modernity, past and future, custom and innovation, the old becoming new! That is why it stands for a message of protecting and reducing the use of available natural resources, such as by RECYCLING or REUSING old, disused items just as the PLANET P of Agenda 2030 celebrates.

"The communication of Piwi wines confronted us with complex terms such as "NO GMOs," "resistant," and "fungal diseases" that we somehow feared might drive the audience away rather than bring them closer. Therefore, we decided to narrate our "journey" to discover this unexplored "world" using words like vision, exploration, and discovery. From here, we set out to build a positive communication campaign that could inform our stakeholders about the complex world of PIWI wines and their propensity for increasingly sustainable agriculture. Piwi wines therefore became the ambassadors of sustainability for us by involving our team in the creation of a large crossword puzzle with the aim of cross-referencing the key words of sustainability with the PIWI wine of reference. Representing how sustainability is a complex concept that involves everyone!"- says Maddalena Bigolin, social media manager of the winery.
