Discovering Piwi Wines - Chapter 3 - "Hoopa - The Goal"
Traveling helps to see things from unseen, sometimes unthinkable points of view. And that is exactly what happened once we arrived at our travel destination. We found ourselves in
a world turned upside down, upside down
where everything we had seen and experienced up to that point had been subverted, rewritten, innovated. We had come a long way from home, to a place so far away that we were on the other side of the world. And it was here that we found our sparkling treasure: HOOPA, one of the PIWI wines of our trip.
The Hupa or Hoopa language belongs to the Athabaska language family, spoken by the Hupa people along the lower reaches of the Trinity River in Northwest California. The literal meaning of the name is: "language of the people who inhabit the Hoopa Valley."
A completely different language from ours, telling us about a sparkling white wine that speaks of white flowers and pineapple, with lively tropical notes.
The destination is reached and it is time to return home, changed, enriched and ready to tell everyone the stories of our journey through our wines.
TASTE THEM WITH US! We take you on a discovery of Piwi wines, a fascinating new world that opens up new perspectives on resistant grape varieties: here is the Hoopa tasting video with our winemaker Luca.
