Spring 2023 continues to bring excitement to Casa Pizzolato. Another important recognition for our Manzoni Bianco DOC Piave that is filling us with pride: we received the gold medal at the 47th exhibition of Triveneto wines in Camalò.

Collecting the award were Serena Zanatta, marketing department, and Luca Zamai, winery winemaker.

"A beautiful evening last Thursday! A real pride for us to have received this prestigious award in the white wine category that saw our Manzoni Bianco compete with the most famous grape varieties of the Triveneto region. A medal that framed the hard work we have been doing for the past three years to achieve a complex elegant and harmonious Manzoni Bianco " - Luca Zamai, winery winemaker, tells us.

The grape variety Manzoni Bianco, better known as Incrocio Manzoni, is an indigenous grape variety from the province of Treviso and was born from the cross between Riesling Renano and Pinot Bianco. It is the most famous of the clones devised and tested by Professor Luigi Manzoni, who began his experimentation through crosses and hybridizations in 1924.
The vine is very versatile, adapts easily to all types of soil, is not very vigorous and its production is low. The cluster and berries are very small and aromatic in flavor, the skin is very thick and pruinose for this reason it is sometimes complicated its vinification.
The wine obtained is distinguished by notes of finesse and elegance, with discreet gradation and acidity the vinification in purity allows to exalt all its qualities. Our team of winemakers has worked hard over the years to achieve an explosion of pleasure for the palate. We have managed to bring out the full potential of these grapes and obtain a delicate wine with floral and mineral notes, full-bodied and balanced.

The production area of DOC Piave lies between the Trevigiana and Friulana hills, with Montello to the north and the Venice Lagoon to the south. The name of the appellation derives from the name of the Piave River, which flows through the entire production area, a place with a vocation for viticulture as far back as the pre-Roman era.

Incrocio Manzoni also lends itself well to sparkling wine making. Our team of winemakers therefore chose the path of refermentation in the bottle according to the classic method, precisely to obtain a finer and more refined bubble so as to highlight all the elegant notes of these grapes.
