New scents and flavors of piwi wines: drinking good wine consciously is good for the environment!
PIWI, an acronym for Pilzwiderstandfähig, are vines born from a cross between the European vitis vinifera and the American vine, which is characterized by a pronounced ability to resist fungal diseases that typically affect vines, such as powdery mildew and downy mildew. This allows the producer to reduce vineyard treatments to a maximum of 2-4 per year, and the consequence is a benefit to both people's health and the environment.
In organic piwi production, the reduced need for treatments saves resources, energy and CO2 emissions, in vineyard operations. The result is also a reduction in the use of machinery and fuel in the countryside. In addition, these varieties also result in savings in water use.
And for this very reason, as we have always been very sensitive and attentive to these issues, we decided to launch a message of environmental sustainability and care and respect for nature and mankind...A TRUE OATH TO GREEN THINKING!
Thus, we have created a social campaign, which you can see on our socials, writing directly on the skin, some messages related to raising awareness of major environmental issues that are nowadays plaguing "our home" as never before.
We wanted our "green messages" to remain imprinted like real tattoos, generating people's awareness of the importance of a more sustainable approach to everyday life. Indeed, it is the small choices and actions that each of us makes every day that make the difference, and even opting for organic and sustainable wine is a step toward a healthier and cleaner world. We therefore invite you to visit our Instagram page and leave your personal green message...the more the merrier!
We would also like to mention that towards the end of next October will be the time to be able to taste our Novello vintage 2021, a blend of resistant varieties such as Merlot Khorus, Carnet Cortis and Prior N and without the addition of sulfites.
The special feature of this wine, made by the method of carbonic maceration that promotes migration of pigments and other substances from the skin to the pulp enhancing the wine's aromas and smoothness, is the fact that it is on sale to the public from October 30 to December 31 of the same year in which it is vinified. A wine with a ruby red color and violet hues, with a harmonious and velvety flavor and an aroma of violets and blueberries.
