We have approved new bylaws sanctioning the company's change to a "Benefit Society" for beneficial and sustainable engagement. B-Corp certification is also among our next goals!
The road to real and palpable sustainability is all to be traveled and never has an end point: we are proud to tell you that as of today we become a Benefit Society! The Benefit Society (SB) is an innovative business model, which through its operations, in addition to its profit motive, annually sets itself the task of pursuing one or more goals of common benefit, that is, goals that have a positive effect (or reduce a negative one) on people, society and the environment. In Italy to date there are as many as 926 benefit societies, with a steadily growing trend since 2016, when this particular legal form was introduced in our country.
But let's let our president Settimo Pizzolato speak:
"We are proud of this milestone: Cantina Pizzolato has always stood out for its attention to the environment, implementing practices aimed at sustainable development and focusing since its origins on organic farming, at times when it was not yet thinkable. This is a significant commitment for me and my family, who are currently at the helm of the winery, but the real purpose of becoming SB is linked above all to the future generations who will be at the helm of this company whose footprint will remain structured and stable in this way."
The new bylaws spur us to pursue goals related to land conservation and regeneration, to contribute to viticultural research and experimentation, to continuously improve our processes and business practices by being mindful of social and environmental issues, and to create a work environment that ensures people's health and safety through a corporate welfare plan for worker wellness, sustainability training activities, and medical and health agreements.
"To have become a Benefit Corporation for us, as well as the concept of sustainability, is not an accomplishment but a step toward subsequent goals such as that of B-Corporation certification, issued by B Lab, a nonprofit corporation that popularizes and promotes a new way of doing business, through the B Impact Assessment (BIA) measurement standard with necessary and controlled requirements. It will be crucial for us, as much as for the consumer, to quantify the impact our business has on the environment in order to implement all those good practices that will lead us to achieve zero impact as soon as possible."
These actions appear to be consistent with the process of social reporting that we have put in place in recent years, including through the release of annual social reports. A path that increasingly denotes our willingness to be in the vanguard of change and supporters of innovative and sustainable practices that care about the territory and its inhabitants
