The name "Malanotte" recalls the medieval village of Tezze di Piave, acquired in the 17th century by the noble Trentino Malanotte family, which gave a decisive boost to the cultivation of Raboso. During their period of influence, and with the contribution of other noble families in the area, Raboso became the symbolic wine of the Venetian Republic. It was prized not only for its taste but also for its robustness, which made it suitable for transportation on the most demanding trade routes. In fact, it has remained known over the centuries as the "vin da viajo" due to its extraordinary ability to cope with long journeys without losing quality.
Malanotte del Piave DOCG is a unique wine in the Italian wine scene. Its production is strictly regulated, with special attention paid to grape selection and vinification.
